Central provides a number of mission trips and events throughout the year. The following is a list of ongoing mission and community service projects we participate in; we would love to have you partner with us as we love God and serve our neighbors in need. Central is always looking for ways to serve our community and the world; as a result, other mission events and opportunities are made available throughout the year—these are just a few of the staples.

Habitat for Humanity - Central has included in its Strategic Plan that we will build a house each year. We have completed our 4th house for local families and also a house in Mississippi for a victim of Hurricane Katrina. We typically build in the fall (September or October) and there are a number a ways folks can get involved; even if you aren’t able to participate in the build team.

Central Appalachian Project (CAP) is a one-week trip to Harlan, KY to assist the Mennonite Community in construction and repair of their support facilities such as schools, churches and community centers.

The 2009 CAP trip is scheduled for the week of June 8-12, so mark your calendars and keep checking the website for sign up information.

Love Your Neighbor Day is a one-day outreach (typically in February) to local benevolent organizations such as Healing Hands, YMCA, YWCA, Boys & Girls Club, Food Pantry, etc. to help them accomplish jobs they normally do not have time or people to get done. We typically send 8 -10 teams of 3-5 people to each location to paint, repair, install, and do whatever we can to help meet their needs.

For volunteer opportunities, check the website for sign up information.

Mission Central is the same as Love Your Neighbor Day except it is done for members of Central's congregation and friends who are unable to do these things for themselves.

Mission Central 2009 will be Saturday, November 21. We will have breakfast in Central Hall at 8:00 AM and head out to the work sites at 8:30 AM.

For volunteer opportunities, check here around the first of November for job descriptions and online sign up forms.

Central’s Backpack Ministry is a weekly project that provides healthy and wholesome food and snacks for elementary school children on the school lunch program at Stonewall Jackson Elementary in Bristol.

Snack bags are prepared every Wednesday evening and we are always looking for new folks to help pick up supplies, prepare the bags and deliver them to the school.

For volunteer opportunities, contact Alice Blanton

Bristol Outreach is a program through the YWCA that reaches out to children and teens in the Bristol community. Once a quarter, Central’s youth ministry provides a home cooked meal and helps with the programming for their Sunday night meeting. Youth and parent volunteers work together to pick up supplies, cook dinner, and serve the students of Bristol Outreach. During Christmas, we also prepare Christmas bags for the students.

For volunteer or giving opportunities, contact Jason Harris
