Worship of the one Triune God shapes who we are and energizes what we do at Central. Since worship is preparation for and also the work of Christian people, our worship experiences are designed to engage and involve the heart and soul, mind and strength in expressing love for God.

In the works of Danish philosopher and theologian Soren Kierkegaard a great point is made about worship as what I call a spectator sport.  Conventional wisdom is that the pastor, and other worship leaders (choir, musicians, liturgists, etc.) are the primary participants and the members of the congregation are spectators.  Kierkegaard rightly corrects this sort of understanding.  Worship is a spectator sport:  God is the spectator, the pastor and worship leaders provide direction and every member of the congregation is a primary participant.  Worship is the work of the people, worship leaders aid and abet, coach and direct the worship of the people.

At Central, we offer both contemporary and traditional opportunities for the worship of guests, friends and members of the church. Guests routinely tell us that they find the atmosphere at Central in general and both worship services in particular to be warm and welcoming. We celebrate the Sacrament of Communion on the first Sunday of the month. The celebration of Communion reminds us life, death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Any baptized person is welcome to join us in the sharing of the bread and the cup.

In attempting to avoid the pitfalls of a worship house that is divided into two separate services, the congregation comes together for worship at 10 AM on the fifth Sunday of every month.  We call this experience Combined Worship.  It is a wonderful way of bringing us together to worship with “the other half” of the church.  This spirit of unity is expressed during the summer months of June, July and August when Combined worship happens each Sunday.   Those who join us for worship are glad they did and so is the God we worship!

We invite you to join us in worship of the amazing God we love and serve!
