Central Presbyterian Church has many wonderful resources, but none are as valuable as the people themselves. And among the membership and friends of the church, one of the most valuable resources is our senior adults. Combining their accumulated life wisdom with the time to enjoy various activites and adventures makes Central's Forever Young Ministries one of the most interesting and fun communities within the congregation.
The 55+ Group gathers twice a month. They join each other once a month for a regional day-trip, taking in plays and sightseeing, concerts and picnics, historical sites and shopping sprees. They also meet once a month for Birthday Lunches at various local restaurants (whoever has a birthday that month is treated to lunch by the rest of the group). And once a year they head to vacation destinations such as Savannah, GA and Nashville, TN for an extended trip.
Our newest Forever Young Ministry group is GAD (God's Awesome Diggers), a gardening and birding group that meets once a month to provide help and share information pertaining to their own gardens, to work intergenerationally with Central's APPLE Pre-school students, and to explore opportunites to celebrate God's creation throughout Central's grounds and facility.
